Meet the summery romper’s fall sister, the jumpsuit. I love the idea of a jumpsuit- simple. Easy. Casual. But still stylish. It’s the perfect outfit in theory for girls like me [or most girls, really] for those days you want to look good, but don’t want to actually try at all. But there are also some extremely horrible one piece options- it took me months to find one that I actually love. See below-

I’m actually obsessed with this black jumpsuit from TopShop. Everything that can be done right in a jumpsuit is happening here- it’s loose. It’s comfortable. It’s fitted in the right spots [see: cinched waist]. It’s still flattering while feeling like I’m getting away with some massive secret. Here’s what to look for if you’re also looking for this simple statement piece:

1. Solid Colors
This look is best done in a solid color. The idea of a one piece is already loud, so adding color blocking or prints draws even more attention. Also, it’s harder to flatter your body if you’re walking around in 5+ feet of tribal print.

2. Fit
Look at the cut of the suit- if it’s loose, is it fitted in the right spots? Is your waist defined? You don’t want to look like you’re wearing a sack with elastic only at the ankles.

3. Length
You can have some fun on this part! These look great paired with this season’s ankle strap heels. A little higher rise would still compliment them perfectly.

4. Simplicity
Same with the color theory- less is more when it comes to a jumpsuit. Avoid the one pieces that also are backless or have mesh paneling. Those add ons instantly take the look from ‘chic’ to ‘club’.

 5. Styling
I personally love styling jumpsuits with neutral makeup and a bold lip. I would suggest avoiding a smokey eye for the same reason you should avoid excessive cut outs- you’re trying to look relaxed, not like you’re walking home from the club at 2pm.
