Fall Haul + Essie Nail Polish Holiday Collection 2012

I am both extremely late to blog my Fall Haul while also extremely prompt to blog my finds from the Essie Holiday 2012 Collection- so what do you say we just call it even and get to the pictures?

I first saw pictures from this collection ..yesterday. LOL. So I was on the hunt for a solid hour before finally seeing the new display at my local Walgreens [no luck at CVS or Ulta, but some of my viewers have mentioned they found the set at Target]. I grabbed four polishes from the collection, excluding two of the red toned polishes:

Essie Holiday Collection 2012:
Butler Please, Where’s My Chauffeur, Beyond Cozy, Leading Lady

I originally thought I only wanted to purchase Where’s my Chauffeur and Beyond Cozy, but the other colors were equally tempting in person [and you know me, no one’s ever accused me of saying ‘no’ to new polish]. Obvie the first thing I did upon returning home was to try out my original favorite:

Essie
“Where’s My Chauffeur”

This picture does the polish justice way more accurately than the filterless photo I instagrammed earlier [there’s a dim tint to the photo and it looks much more dull than in reality]. I’d describe it as a bit deeper than a Tiffany blue, and more blue than it’s predecessor ‘Turquoise and Caicos”. It goes on extremely well- almost opaque with one coat, fully after two. Definitely recommend if you enjoy this color!

I originally thought this shade would be my new obsession, and “Beyond Cozy” would be my second. I thought it would be a glowy topcoat, like a toned down version of last year’s “Set in Stones”. I couldn’t wait and painted it on one of my nails- see the results for yourself:

Essie
“Beyond Cozy”

This is definitely NOT what I was expecting. It is a straight up polish color! It doesn’t hurt that I had a base already, but you could use this alone [with 2 coats], or layer it over a different favorite. It’s extremely sparkly without the thick pieces of glitter- finely milled and fabulous.

While I was out shopping, I also picked up four other polish colors that caught my eye

Ck One Matte Top Coat
Deborah Lippmann “Today Was a Fairytale”

Essie “Mint Candy Apple”, Essence “Modern Romance”

I found these four polishes at Ulta when I stopped in to repurchase my favorite eye makeup remover [Lancome Bi Facil- seriously, the best for sensitive eyes/skin. I’ve tried so many and always return to this]. I knew I loved Mint Candy Apple, so I was happy to finally see this one available for purchase. I’ve only tried one other Essence polish before and loved it, so I have high hopes for this as well.  I haven’t bought a matte topcoat yet [I’m a little late to that party], so we’ll see how I like this one. Let me know if you’d like pictures or a review of it when I do!
